Unlock future potential in young adults (16–18) by introducing them to the infinite possibilities ahead of them in the field of IT. To recognise that formal exam results don’t define the individual and their capability.
To be a positive change in the lives of young adults with educational challenges who want a career in IT but don’t have the direction or connections to make that first step.
Focused primarily on young adults who may have not achieved their full exam potential, we are an organisation providing ‘Introduction to IT’ boot camps, seminars and apprenticeship connections to 16-18 year-olds.
Two reasons.
We work in the IT Industry and so this is not just theoretical, we live and breathe the industry we represent to young adults. Our career experience also means we have solid industry connections that are the corner stone of our offerings and support mechanism. These represent real companies with real demands.
Secondly, we have a real world understanding of the challenges employees face in finding people with IT skills. Currently in the UK (in fact worldwide) the demand for IT skills outstrips supply which is why we’re seeing such a significant shift in salary and working expectations. Thus, there is no better industry to be in, and no better time to enter it. As the number of opportunities continues to grow the barrier to entry lowers and so it truly is an industry where you can quickly make an impact as long as you’re willing to bring commitment and enthusiasm with you.
Through personal experience we have both come to realise how easily the IT industry can be misunderstood or dismissed by young adults, and how little exposure they have to a world that will dominate the job market as they come to enter it. Changes are needed at an early age to prepare them for what is both inevitable but also their greatest route to success through a meaningful and enjoyable career.
Whilst there are some young adults who are lucky enough to have a support mechanism around them that is helping guide them to their future, there’s a lot of young adults who are being left behind, and through no fault of their own this world of opportunity is closed off to them. It doesn’t have to be this way, and so this is where we come in. We aim to ‘spread the word;’ to sign post a better future, to give every young adult an equal start.
According to the ONS (Office for National Statistics), from Oct 21-Dec 21, an estimated 10.2% of all people aged 16-24 were not in education, employment or training (*NEET).
A key demographic in this age group is 16-18 years-olds who have just left education and want to start a career but are in desperate need of advice and direction. They also represent a generation that is more connected and IT savvy than the generations before and so a career is technology seems logical and achievable. If we can get at these young adults early enough we believe we can avoid them becoming part of the NEET category - we see ourselves as preventative measure that will over time reduce the NEET percentage but more importantly give opportunity to those that are struggling to find it.
Looking at the IT Training and ‘Bootcamp’ market there is little to no investment in this age gap, they’re either for children under the age of 14, or adult courses which require a good level of educational achievement. We have to start recognising that formal exam results don’t define the individual and their capability.

This is a subject close to my heart and I want to give as many young people as possible the opportunities I've had.
